June 7th, 2011: CSAMT Survey on the Ixtaca Property

Almaden is just finishing up a CSAMT survey on the Ixtaca property. CSAMT is an abbreviation for Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magneto Tellurics and is a surfaced based  low impact technique for providing resistivity information of the subsurface.   It involves transmitting a controlled signal into the ground from one location (transmitter site) and measuring the received electric and magnetic fields in the area of interest (receiver site).  The two sites are usually located 3 to 6 miles apart.

CSAMT is commonly used in the minerals, geothermal, hydrocarbon and ground water exploration industries, and has proven useful for mapping the earth’s crust in the 20 to 2,000 meter depth range.
