Geology: |
high-sulphidation epithermal gold system |
History: |
The Caldera project was discovered in 2007 during Almaden`s regional exploration program in Mexico. The project is located in Puebla State less than 150 kilometers from the Company’s Caballo Blanco project. |
Current work |
Almaden has initiated an 2008 exploration program on the Caldera including geologic and alteration mapping, rock, soil and stream sediment geochemical sampling and IP geophysical surveys. |
Geology: |
high-sulphidation epithermal gold and silver system |
History: |
The Cerro Colorado Property is 100% owned by Almaden through staking. The colourful hydrothermal
alteration on the Cerro Colorado was recognised by Morgan Poliquin during a regional helicopter exploration program. |
Past work includes: |
geological mapping, geochemistry, IP surveys |
Geology: |
high-sulphidation epithermal gold system |
History: |
The Campanario Property, located in Oxaca State, was identified and acquired entirely by staking during a reconnaissance program carried out by Almaden in 2004. |
Past work includes: |
geological mapping, geochemistry, IP sruveys |
Highlight results: |
Almaden completes a work program consisting of 18 rock-chip samples of subcrop and float range from 7 to 3,590 ppb (parts per billion; 1000 parts per billion is equivalent to 1 parts per million or 1 gram per tonne) gold and averaged 409 ppb gold. A preliminary four line soil sampling program was carried on 100 meter spaced lines with samples taken every 25 meters. The samples have returned gold values from 10 to 525 ppb gold, averaging 65 ppb gold. |
Geology: |
epithermal gold-silver system |
| Overview: |
The Ponderosa property is 100% owned by Almaden and was acquired by staking in late 2005. The claim group covers 6950 hectares (69.5 sq. km.) within the Spences Bridge Group volcanic assemblage. The property is located 25 km southwest of Merritt, B.C. and has good road access.
|
History: |
Early into Almaden’s 2001 program, several areas of elevated gold in stream sediments were identified in southern British Columbia. Follow-up prospecting resulted in the identification and staking by Almaden of seven areas of clay-carbonate alteration and quartz veining, representative of low-sulphidation epithermal gold-silver vein systems, including the Ponderosa. |
Past work includes: |
prospecting, geological mapping, geochemistry (soil & rock), trenching, IP surveys, drilling |
Highlight results: |
A 2006 trenching program exposed two extensive mineralised sections:
Trench 06-2 averaging 1.50 g/t gold over 10.0m, including 3.37 g/t gold over 3.0m and in
Trench 06-3 reported 2.83 g/t gold averaged over 6.6m, which includes a section of 2.6m section of 5.26 g/t gold across a massive, sheared quartz vein. |

low-sulphidation epithermal gold system |
History: |
The Fuego Property was recognised
during an Almaden helicopter reconnaissance program for copper porphyry
systems in Mexico. Visible gold was recognised
in several hand specimens collected on the property, which led Almaden to acquire a 100% interest
by staking in 2003. |
Past work includes: |
geological mapping, geochemistry, IP surveys, and limited drilling. |
Highlight results: |
Diamond drill results from Horseshoe Gold's 2005-2006 Program include 6.13m of 1g/t gold (HOLE 2), 0.39m of 4.26g/t gold and 100g/t silver (HOLE 3), and 1.10m of 1.65g/t gold and 103g/t silver (HOLE 8). Almaden believes that the drilling intersected the vein at very shallow levels and that the results are encouraging for high grade gold and silver at greater depths. |

History: |
The Tuligtic project was recognised during a helicopter reconnaissance program in 2005. The property is located approximately 100 kilometres north of Puebla and 150 kilometres west of Mexico City and is covered by a 5,000 hectare claim staked and held 100% by Almaden.
|
Past work includes: |
geological mapping, geochemistry, and IP surveys. |
Highlight results: |
The rock and soil sampling and IP geophysical program has defined a large porphyry copper-gold target that has never been drill tested. In addition a low-sulphidation vein system has been identified on the property adjacent to the porphyry target. |
Geology: |
copper-gold porphyry |
History: |
The San Carlos project is located within a north-south trending belt of alkalic intrusive rocks in eastern Mexico. A mining camp was active on part of the property during the late 1800s and early 1900s in a zone now know as the San Jose Area. |
Past work includes: |
geological mapping, geochemistry, IP surveys, and limited drilling. |
Highlight results: |
Soil samples from the San Jose Area of the San Carlos property returned gold values up to 1000 ppb within a broad geochemical anomaly with values ranging from 100 ppb to 1935 ppb gold, and averaging 372 ppb gold over an area of approximately 300 metres by 1000 metres. |
